And then there were two…

We were delighted that Georges Roches and Marcelle Roux were able to travel all the way from central France to join us at the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta with their model Tibet hot air balloon. Georges has been involved in model making for 45 years. Marcelle runs France Tibet. When they learnt about Tashi they were determined to build a model version and contacted us for permission to reproduce the design. We were delighted to learn of the project!

Built in Germany by Richard Bolling at Bolling Modellballoon, mini Tashi is an exact replica of Tashi and a fully functioning hot air balloon but a fraction of the size.

The two Tibet hot air balloons became one on the launch field when they were joined by our Tibetan passengers Tenzin Phuntsok and Wangdue Tsering who were able to stand inside Tashi alongside mini Tashi and fly the flag for Tibet.

Mini Tashi also joined Tashi for the spectacular night glow on Saturday evening when 25 balloons lit up the sky in time to music, delighting a crowd of thousands who had gathered for the event.

We look forward to meeting mini Tashi, Georges and Marcelle on our next visit to France for the 2017 Lorraine Mondial Air Ballons
